Disk Cleanup

The Disk Cleanup tool helps you free up space on your hard disk by searching your disk for files that  you
can safely delete. You can choose to delete some or all of the files.

Hard Drive Defragmentation ("Defragging")

When you save files to your hard drive, it saves them in sectors or "clusters."  As you save more and more
files, they're placed in different places on your hard drive, leaving gaps and spaces between files.  Over
time, the hard drive will try to fill in these gaps by breaking up the files in different sectors.  When that
happens, your hard drive will work slower.  "Defragging" your hard drive pulls all the data together and
puts all the free space in one large block.

Empty Recycle Bin

The Recycle Bin is an area on your computer that holds deleted files, and takes up space on your hard
drive.  You have the ability to review the files in the Recycle Bin prior to final deletion, which helps prevent
any accidental deletion.  To free up space on your hard drive, empty the Recycle Bin.

Microsoft Updates

Microsoft frequently issue updates and patches for its various programs.  This tool helps you stay up-to-
date on the latest updates, and can even update your computer for you.
